The Things I Would Say

With apologies to The Sidewalk Prophets, I am using their song title.

Today is Post-Election Wednesday. So many feelings and thoughts run through my mind. I am not terribly political or well versed in politics. I do however feel that it is imperative to vote whenever possible (I think that I have missed maybe 3 or 4 elections since the early 80's). I look to vote as close to my faith as possible.

My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness. Nothing in this world can take away that hope. No government can give me hope or take it away. Knowing that the Lord is sovereign takes away all worry about who is our president or governor or even that I live in a state that the votes opposite my most basic and fundamental core beliefs.

My job now is to pray daily for those in charge.Federal, State, County and City. The Lord is mighty to save and He can and will work in the hearts of our rulers.  Pray not that my will be done or my desires be done but that the Lord's will be done that His name be glorified in all the earth. While I want my country to prosper, be a strong voice for liberty and justice, and be a safe place to live, I would rather have the Lord glorified in my life and in the world. I also need to pray for future leaders. If the Lord should tarry and the country survive the next four years, we will need godly, strong leaders who can truly work to restore our country.

I also need to pray daily for people in this nation and through out the world.  The Lord is the only one who can change this old world and He does it working through humble people who seek Him first and foremost.

So my soul (and my friends) do not despair, do not be downcast, the Lord is in His Holy Temple. He is in control. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not your own understanding. There will be trials and count them all joy for the Lord will use them for His glory and isn't that why we are here (besides He does promise to work all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose)..
